Houston's Morning News with Matt Patrick welcomes immigration attorney Joe DeMott to discuss a TX divorce case applying a law set in place since the 90's. The "Affidavit Of Support," is a federal law that says if you bring someone into this country to marry them, it means you are obligated to maintain them until they are a U.S. citizen or pay into S.S. for 10 years. If they don't, you're responsible for them "forever" DeMott says. It goes for anyone you bring into this country, in order to keep them from becoming a government charge, so you have to maintain them at 125% of the poverty level. So "buyer beware." Listen in for more.
