Critics Are Warning That Colleges Are Skirting The Texas DEI Ban

Even though the Texas DEI ban in universities went into effect on January 1st, there are growing concerns that some schools are 'skirting' the issue and trying to keep it going.

Case in point, Texas A&M, which gave their DEI head a nice pay raise, 9-months paid leave, and a new position.

"The work-arounds are the fear that many have that DEI will truly not be removed from our Texas university campuses" said Republican State Senator, Brandon Creighton.

But while some schools might be ignoring it the new state law right now, full compliance is expected, and should be taken very seriously.

"There are always going to be nefarious strategies to relaunch and rename the DEI model, and we've got a zero tolerance for those types of efforts" senator Creighton told KTRH, "Texans are tired of discriminatory, weaponized 'Diversity-Equity-and Inclusion' units."

Creighton, who wrote S.B. 17 that Governor Abbott signed into law, adds that compliance will be addressed during senate education hearings, that will be held next month.
