Tipping fatigue - Its not just a cliche; we have reached a "tipping point"

Requests for tips are everywhere - they are more pervasive, aggressive and for larger amounts. Post-COIVD, consumers are confronting a new reality of fewer stimulus funds from the Government, higher inflation eating away at their spending power and a waning need to care for service workers.

Ted Rossman, Senior Industry Analyst at BANKRATE.COM says we are suffering "tip fatigue" at every turn and are starting to push back. "Guilt tipping" is the awkward behavior that goes along with consumers being confronted at the Point of Sale by a tablet or other device suggesting that a tip be left - sometimes in situations where tipping might not really be indicated at all.

However, Rossman says that while people often complain about tipping requests, they don't really change their behavior that much.
