With the escalated violence and coup, Americans now have to worry about potentially violent Haitian immigrants as well as the crisis at the southern border, and rising illegal immigration at the northern border. Department of Defense officials have already testified before Congress, saying that they do anticipate a wave of Haitians.
National security expert Ed Turzankis told KTRH, "This is why the Governor of Florida has decided to mobilize the state military. He's very concerned about the flow of people." Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has also called on the Department of Defense to mobilize U.S. Navy ships in the Florida Straits to deter "mass maritime immigration."
Turzanski says the issue is exacerbated by the fact that we have no ability to vet the Haitian immigrants to ensure they aren't members of the same gangs that have ravaged the Caribbean nation. He noted that this is when rules like Donald Trump's Remain-In-Mexico policy would have been extremely helpful.
