Houston-area weather outlook includes risk of tornadoes

The Houston area is facing severe weather over the next 24 hours, including a risk of flooding, hail, strong winds and tornadoes.

Forecasters say some tornadoes could be strong, perhaps EF2 or greater. Most tornadoes in Southeast Texas reach EF0-EF1 strength. EF2s have winds that range from 111 to 135 mph.

Storms are expected to develop near Austin and along Interstate 35 this afternoon, then move into the Houston area later tonight, most likely after 10 p.m.
