Houston Man Convicted of Human Smuggling

A Houston man may spend up to ten-years in prison after a jury found him guilty of human smuggling.

Prosecutors say 31-year-old Francisco Lapop was part of an operation that smuggled illegal immigrants to a stash house in Houston.

Lapop and his associates set up a number of trips between 2019 and 2021 to drive dozens of illegals in box trucks marked with fake commercial logos from south Texas to Houston.

Lapop would be waiting at the stash house to pay his associates. He will be sentenced in September.
