Pew Survey: Our Tech-Driven Society Creates Big Challenges by 2025

Innovators, developers, and business leaders say the pandemic has put us on the fast-track to become a more tech-driven society.

Experts say the “new normal” by 2025 will be “tele-everything”. According to a new survey by the Pew Research Center, it’s predicted that we will rely even more on digital connections for work, education, health care, and even social interaction. The High-Tech Texan Michael Garfield tells KTRH COVID-19 is a big reason why.

“Business are saving an enormous amount of money on not traveling, hopping on airplanes, wasting gas, which is great. But on the flip side, the lack of human interaction, that actually could be very detrimental to people’s health,” Garfield said.

Garfield says facial and verbal communication is vital to human interaction.

“Tone is incredible. You cannot tell tone in written words [from text message]. So, if you are trying to tell a boss something, it could be taken the wrong way, and I won’t even get into the personal relationships. How girlfriends, boyfriends, husbands, and wives; they mistake things,” he added.

The survey also warns of the growing influence of big tech companies.
