Blue Bell To Pay Record Fines Over Listeria Contamination

Ice cream maker Blue Bell is being fined more than 17-million-dollars for the listeria outbreak in 2015.

There were ten cases in four states, including three deaths in Kansas.

The fine and forfeiture amount add up to the largest-ever criminal penalty for a food safety case.

When Texas state officials first notified Blue Bell that samples tested positive for listeria, the company told its delivery drivers to pull the two flavors from store shelves.

But, Blue Bell didn't recall the products or warn customers about the potential contamination.
