Houston pays its respect to HPD officer Jason Knox today

Houston says goodbye to one of its finest today.

The Funeral for Officer Jason Knox gets underway at 11 o'clock this morning at Houston's First Baptist Church. Knox was killed in a helicopter crash one week ago. His father, City Council Member Mike Knox, told KTRH's Michael Berry everyone involved tried to save his son.

"The doctors did all they could. The firefighters on the scene did a tremendous job, but despite everyone's best efforts he was not able to survive," Knox said.

The service is being limited at the church because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The only people that can attend are:

  • Family & Friends
  • Members of the HPD Command Staff
  • HPD Employees Assigned to the Air & Marine Division
  • Members of HPD Class #212
  • Dignitaries

HPD plans to stream the service on social media. The other officer injured last week, Chase Cormier, continues his recovery at the hospital.
