Abbott: TX Barbershops, Nail Salons Can Open On Friday

Texas barbershops, nail salons, and tanning salons will be able to open up this Friday.

Governor Greg Abbott said Monday there would be certain restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus including one person per stylist and six-foot distance. He also said walk-in customers will need to wait outside or in a vehicle. Customers and stylists are also encouraged to wear facemasks.

Abbott says no one is required to open back up on Friday and encouraged business owners to make their own decisions.

The governor went on to say it is up to Texans to decide if more coronavirus restrictions are needed.

Abbott told reporters that people need to keep practicing social distancing, good hygiene, and staying at home so more businesses can start opening up. He encouraged people to wear masks while on beaches or in state parks.

The governor noted the hospitalization rate is declining even though total active cases have increased. Just over 900 people have died in Texas from the virus with more than 33,000 confirmed cases.
