Panic Buying Isn't Good

Saturday morning shopping began with lines at grocery stores.

An early morning report from the Whole Foods store in Waugh Street downtown finds a line when the store opened at 7 and packed aisles once the doors were unlocked.

Weekends are the busiest shopping days of the week at grocery stores, and HEB is adjusting with new hours of operation effective this weekend to keep the shelves well stocked.

Beginning today the new hours for all HEB stores, Joe's V Smart Shop, Mi Tienda, and Central Market is 8 am to 8pm.

With the hashtag Slow the Spread Texas on social media h-e-b says "Customers shouldn't panic, we continue to restock shelves. We encourage preparedness, not stockpiling - Please weekends are the busiest shopping days of the week at grocery buy what you need & leave some for your neighbor behind you."
