Dems promote diverse field, but tonight's debate is not diverse at all

Six Democratic Presidential candidates take the debate stage tonight looking nothing like the field the Democrats promised.

The D-N-C told everyone they had the most diverse field ever. All six debaters tonight are white. Charles Blain at Urban Reform what you're seeing is a split party

"There's this kind of internal conflict within the party. Their top candidates do not match what the base supposedly wants," Blain said.

Former Harris County Democratic Party Chairman Gerry Birnberg told KTRH it's simply how the chips fell.

"You go through the process. You were required to show some baseline of some nominal, minimal support," Birnberg explained.

As for the substance of the debate, Blain says don't expect any surprises.

"The debates haven't changed very much in the last couple of months because the same top tier of the candidates have been dominating most of the time," Blain stated.

Only six candidates qualified for tonight;Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer.
