Harris County Needs New Voting Machines

US-POLITICS-ELECTION-VOTE

Early voting continues in local municipal elections today. Polls are open 7 to 7 today and 1 to 6 tomorrow. They’ll be open 7-7 through Friday of next week and Election Day is November 5. In Fort Bend County, polls are open today from 8 to 5 at most though not all locations.

Harris County is one of more than two-dozen Texas counties that should switch to different voting machines before next year's elections, according to several liberal groups.

The ACLU of Texas, Protect Democracy, and Public Citizen are urging 29 counties to change to systems that print out a paper record of every vote in case of a computer malfunction.

Other Houston-area counties the groups contacted are Fort Bend, Galveston, Montgomery, and Grimes.
