A Los Angeles Angels employee is working with federal investigators after he reportedly was Tyler Skaggs' connection for the drugs that he abused and ultimately killed him this season.
According to ESPN, the team's director of communications Eric Kay gave the Drug Enforcement Administration Skaggs and the names of five other players he believed were using opiates while with the club.
Sources familiar with the investigation say Kay told investigators he provided the pitcher oxycodone, abused it with him for years, and that two team officials were told about Skaggs' drug use long before his death.
Skaggs died in a Southlake, Texas, hotel room on July 1st from an overdose. He was 27.
Autopsy results found evidence of fentanyl, oxycodone and alcohol in his system.
