Texas Fourth of July Fireworks Mishaps

It happens every year. Your newsfeed is packed with stories about fireworks in the hands of amatuers gone wrong, sometimes with deadly consequences.

A Cypress man is locked up on claims he tried to hit his neighbor over fireworks. Harris County Precinct Four Constable's deputies say Christopher Barnes drove his vehicle towards a man on the evening of the Fourth of July on Doric Court near Huffmeister. No one was hurt. The 68-year-old is accused of aggravated assault with bond at 30-thousand dollars.

A Dallas police officer is expected to be okay after someone shot a firework at his squad car. The firework struck the cruiser late Thursday night on East Overton near I-45, shattering the driver's side window. Investigators believe the suspect may have been part of a group standing at a nearby apartment complex. No arrests have been made.

And a 19 year old Fort Worth teen is dead following a 4th of July fireworks accident. Two groups of teens were shooting fireworks at each other in a south Edgewood community. The teen was holding the firecracker in his hand when it exploded.
