Immigrants Going To San Antonio, Other Cities After Bridge Tent City Closes

(San Antonio, TX) -- The Border Patrol is shipping immigrants to San Antonio and other cities for processing after closing a tent city holding site under an El Paso bridge.

The transitional facility under the Paso Del Norte International Bridge was closed down Saturday.

CBP officials say the immigrants are being relocated throughout the region including sites away from the border in Texas and New Mexico. Border Patrol highway checkpoints are also being used so agents can do criminal background checks and medical screenings on the asylum seeking immigrants before they let them go.
