POLL: State Board To Discuss Removing Confederate Plaque From State Capitol

(Austin, TX)  --  An agenda for a State Preservation Board meeting confirms the group will discuss removing a Confederate plaque from the Texas Capitol.

Governor Greg Abbott called for the meeting last month.  State lawmakers allowed the Children of the Confederacy plaque to be put up in 1959.  The plaque says the underlying reason for the Civil War was not slavery.

On Wednesday, the preservation board posted the agenda for its January 11th meeting.  They will discuss the issue then.
