Real Estate Firm Buys Former Sharpstown Mall

(Houston, TX)  --  Houston's oldest indoor mall is once again locally owned.  It was announced last week that Houston-based commercial real estate firm Baker Katz bought the former Sharpstown Center from a Philadelphia-based firm.  Baker Katz now owns the main portion of the mall on Bellaire Boulevard at the Southwest Freeway.

Other parts, including the anchor department stores, still have different owners.  The mall originally opened in 1961, added a second level in the 1980s, and changed its name to PlazAmericas in late 2009.
