Jobs Fair Open to Veterans, Spouses

Veteran and military spouses can explore new career opportunities at a job fair from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at Minute Maid Park.

All events are free.

Nearly 100 employers are looking to fill hundreds of job openings.

Organizers say military spouses are top hiring targets.

The job fair comes as the federal government has expanded federal job opportunities to military spouses – part of an effort to promote military spouse hiring across the federal government.

“American military spouses, who number approximately 690,000, are a diverse population,” according to a report from the Council of Economic Advisers. “Like their active duty husbands and wives, they come from varying racial and ethnic backgrounds, and bring a diversity of skills to the labor market. But military spouses face a particular challenge: they often find their labor market activities, including choices over whether to work, how many hours, and in what occupation, to be subject to the geographic and temporal constraints imposed by their active duty spouse.”

RecruitMilitary is the event organizer.

Also:

--Xavier University will host a pre-event seminar regarding educational benefits and programs for veterans.
