It's a dangerous reminder that the summer season is upon us:
Fort Bend County officials say a mother faces charges after leaving her baby in a hot car while she went shopping. Officers responded shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday to the Hobby Lobby on the Grand Parkway and South Fry Road. Somebody had seen the baby in the car and was able to take it out since the doors were unlocked. Investigators found and arrested the mother, identified as 29-year-old Ayesha Farooq. CPS said there had been no previous complaints about the family, so the baby was released to its father.
A Baytown man is arrested for leaving his 18-month old daughter in a hot car for 20-minutes in a Kroger parking lot. Police say the windows were rolled up and the child was covered in a blanket. The girl was placed with family members. 24-year old Gene Curry has been charged with child endangerment. His bail was set at a thousand dollars, but must be supervised while with his children.
The outcome was significantly different in Eagle Pass, where a seven-month old girl died in a hot car after her father forgot to drop her at daycare. The high temperature reached 100-degrees along the Texas border Thursday.
