Fire/Explosion at Pasadena Chemical Plant

Officials in Pasadena have put out a fire at the Kuraray America Eval plant, where 20 people were injured and one person is missing after an explosion.

No shelter in place has been ordered.

According to Kuraray’s website, the plant specializes in chemical, fiber, and resin production.

The City of Pasadena posted the following statement on their Facebook page:

"City of Pasadena Office of Emergency Management has received a level 3 notification from **Kuraray America Eval located at 11500 Bay Area Blvd.**There is no danger to the public at this time. ***Incident Description: A fire explosion happened in the EVAL Plant. Multiple people down. Emergency vehicles on their way. The city will continue to monitor the situation and advise you if you need. No shelter in place for residents at this time."

There is no word on the extent of the victims’ injuries.
