Texans Complete Day Three of Draft

The Houston Texans went into Day Three of the NFL Draft with five selections, coming away with a wide receiver, two defensive ends, a defensive back, and another tight end.

In Round Four, the team selected Texas Tech receiver Keke Coutee with the 103rd overall pick.   The Lufkin native was named a second-team All Big 12 performer in 2017, and is expected to compete for playing time with current Texans receiver Braxton Miller.

The Texans had three selections in the sixth round, picking Wake Forest defensive end Duke Ejiofor at 177.  They also acquired Mississippi State tight end Jordan Thomas at 211.  He joins Bulldogs teammate Martinas Rankin, the offensive lineman picked in the third round.

With their final pick of the sixth round, the team picked Stanford edge rusher Peter Kalambayi (214), who will join former teammate Justin Reid – the safety the Texans picked with their first selection in the draft.

The Texans completed their draft with San Jose State defensive back Jermaine Kelly in the seventh round (222).

The team opens the preseason August 9th in Kansas City, and starts the regular season September 9th in New England.  The Texans’ home opener is September 23rd against the Giants.
