Mardis Gras in Galveston Let the Good Times Roll

ITS FAT TUESDAY, WHICH MEANS IT'S THE LAST DAY OF MARDIS GRAS CELEBRATIONS IN GALVESTON.

Leah Cast of the Galveston Iisland Convention and Visitors Bureau says fun has been had!

“We didn’t get the cooperation we had wanted from the weather --- but people put on their rain ponchos and came out to the parades and had a lot of fun!”

She says that Galveston sees up to 500,000 people at Mardis Gras every year.  Many of those have never seen the island before and come back for Spring Break or a Summer Vacation.

It’s also a fun way to boost the economy!

“It’s great to see so many people here during the winter when things are usually very slow for us. From small restaurants to hotels --- which, by the way sell out ever year --- our businesses love it!”

Galveston hosts the third largest Mardis Gras celebration in the country. It’s the largest in Texas! Laissez les bons temps rouler
