Chain migration numbers bigger than you think

You are hearing a lot lately about chain migration; more than maybe you ever have before. And the numbers from it are eye popping.

Recent reports show that five years of chain migration has added more foreign born people to the US population than one year of American births. Jessica Vaughan at the center for Immigration studies says it is a problem.

“For every new immigrant that we admit they are likely going to sponsor at least three relatives after them,” Vaughan explained to KTRH News.

And she adds that the issue of chain migration is likely going to have a big role in the campaign for the midterm elections.

“Chain migration is now making up more than two-thirds of legal immigration,” Vaughan stated.

Research shows that chain migration, if it continues, would potentially outpace the entire population of New York City, which is over 8.5 million people.
