Astros look to make history tonight

Tonight could be the night.

The Houston Astros are in Los Angeles, preparing to face the Dodgers for Game Six of the World Series, holding a three-games-to-two lead in the best-of-seven Fall Classic. And the man they turn to tonight to get to the Promised Land is Justin Verlander, who says he wants to be the guy that gets it done.

“This is what it’s all about. These are the moments you want to be a part of as a baseball player. It’s everything you could ask for,” Verlander said.

Expect to see plenty of orange in the crowd; fans like this one told our TV partner Channel 2 they are ready to see history in person..

“This is a once in a lifetime experience. I’m excited and happy to be here representing Houston,” the fan said.

The 'Stros lead the series but manager AJ Hinch knows they can’t get too overconfident. Just look at what happened in the Yankees series.

“It’s important for us to focus on the game at hand,” Hinch said on Monday.

And some lucky Astros fans will get to go to the game tonight thanks to Mattress Mack, who is giving away some tickets this morning at the Gallery Furniture store on North Freeway. You have to get there by 6am for drawings at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 this morning.

First pitch at 7:20; coverage on Sports Talk 790 starts at 5.
