FEMA helps Jefferson County with disaster housing

Port Arthur's mayor announces that people left homeless by Hurricane Harvey will get temporary housing.

Those apartments will be coming in on two barges that each hold about 300 people. Mayor Derrick Freeman said the barges will be located near the Port of Port Arthur.

Out of 81,000 homes, about 15,000 had major damage. But only a quarter of county homeowners had flood insurance.

Roughly 200 residents who are staying at the Thomas Jefferson Middle School Red Cross Center will have to find another place to stay before school starts Monday.
