Fort Bend County Officials Report Tornado Touchdown

FORT BEND COUNTY, TEXAS – Early Saturday morning, Hurricane Harvey generated thunder storms that spawned a tornado that the touched down in Sienna Plantation at Missouri City. 

The winds damaged roof tops and felled trees causing damage to approximately fifty homes. The Red Cross has been contacted, is in route, and will be evaluating the need for a shelter for the residents of the damaged homes. 

Fort Bend County Emergency Medical Services were called out and treated a minor injury at the site, but did not transport any patients.

Office of Emergency Management Staff and all of the agency partners continue to monitor the road closures due to high water. County Road and Bridge crews are making the rounds removing damaged tree limbs for public roadways.
