Car Thieves Really Do Want Old Hondas

21st Century car thieves don't go for the Beemers or Corvettes -- they want an 89 Honda, or a Toyota. Those cars are popular, they are reliable, they are easy to sell -- and easy to steal.

KTRH Car Pro Jerry Reynolds says the newer models are harder for the thieves to take.

“The keys that go into the ignition are chipped and if you don't have the right key,” Reynolds says, “everything locks down on these newer model cars.”

Texas is a little different. The thieves in Houston take Ford and Chevy pickups most often. Reynolds says the main reason is, there are more of them on the road and the bad guys can sell them after they're stolen yours.
