What role did mainstream media play in Congressional shootings?

It’s been two days since a group of Republican Congressmen and their aides were targeted by a gunman who seemingly was a member of the extreme left. And now we are talking about who is to blame for all of this.

More specifically, what role did the rhetoric from the mainstream media play? NBC's Chuck Todd says this is on everyone, not just the left leaning mainstream media.

“Here’s who it seems too many folks don’t want to blame; themselves. We are all to blame,” Todd said on MSNBC this week.

But Don Hooper with Big Jolly politics told KTRH the mainstream media played a big role in what happened; bigger than they want to admit.

“The level of debate on the left seems to be dissipating. I’m not sure why that is but it seems to have been going on for a number of years,” Hooper explained.

And what would have happened if democrats were targeted by a Tea Party member?

“The left would just come unglued if it was a Tea Party member or a member of the NRA,” Hooper stated, adding he's not sure the rhetoric you see from the mainstream media will be toned down after what happened, either.
