Houston drivers will face a seven-month construction delay, as a major road project gets underway in downtown Houston.
The Texas Department of Transportation closed northbound lands on Spur 5 along the Gulf Freeway last night as part of its Direct Connector Project. It’s the first phase of a three-part effort to improve traffic flow along the Gulf Freeway and the I-69/US 59 interchange.
The detour starts at the Scott Street/Downtown exit. Drivers will then access the Interstate 45 frontage road.
Tx-DOT says all phases of the 30-million dollar project are scheduled to be complete in Spring, 2019.
