The Houston area should "expect severe weather" Tuesday, the National Weather Service says.
Look for the worst of it sometime between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday -- a timetable that stands to wreak havoc with -- or at least soak -- the lunchtime plans of lovebirds for Valentine's Day.
WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE
The National Weather Service says potential hazards from the weather system may include:
--A brief, heavy downpour at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour.
--Strong winds.
--Dangerous lightning and possibly tornadoes.
HOW TO PREPARE NOW
Houston's Office of Emergency Management is telling residents to begin preparing for the possible impact. It suggestions:
--Remove outdoor items which can be tossed by strong wind gusts and secure them.
--Be prepared to stay in place if dangerous flooding occurs in your area.
--Communicate with your family ahead of time about what to do if you can't get home at a normal time because of the heavy rain.
--Have a plan to shelter-in-place at your home, school or business.
--If a TORNADO WARNING is issued in your area, seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor possible.
--If a FLASH FLOOD WARNING is issued for your area, seek higher ground and avoid travel until the warning expires.

People are asked to report:
--Trees or debris in city roadways.
--Street flooding.
--Flooding in homes or businesses.
