The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Depression 5 has formed in the southwestern Bay of Campeche, off Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.   The system has maximum sustained winds of 30 mph.

As of 4pm Sunday, it is centered at 20.1 N, 93.6 W and is moving west-northwest at 13 mph.     Tropical Storm Warnings are posted from Tuxpan to Pesca on the eastern coast of Mexico.

There is no immediate threat to the US, but forecasters say heavy rip currents can be expected along the coast near the Rio Grande Valley by midweek.

If the system strengthens into a tropical storm, it will be named Dolly.
