Study Claims Coffee is Good for Your Memory

In a study sure to delight Starbucks, researchers found students who'd consumed a cup of coffee did a better job remembering things they'd learned.

Dr. John Higgins at Houston's UT Health Science Center says caffeine prevents a molecule from blocking a hormone that helps memory.

"Those neurons are going to be processing information for a longer period of time transmitting signals and that may help to improve someone's memory."

But Dr. Higgins cautions this is for adults. Too much caffeine may hurt kids.

"There was a study that showed that there was a delay in brain development in teenagers."

Dr. Higgins says there are plenty of health concerns with caffeine so this is not our cue to go wild on coffee or soda.
