Social Media at Work Makes You More Productive

If you have ever been caught by your boss using Facebook at work you may have science on your side now.

Two studies from Europe found that people who stay connected during the day on social media are more productive.  A study by Warwick Business School says connectivity increases employees sense of presence and gives them greater control over when they get their work finished.

Internet law expert Travis Crabtree says, "social media is like a simple burst of a walk around the office, helps you feel refreshed when you get back to your chair to finish your work."

A second study from Evolv on Demand found that hourly workers who are active on social media tend to stay at their jobs longer.  These trends, like exercise gyms and spas at work, are considered the "startup-ification" of traditional corporate environments.  

Crabtree says these are the influences that are part of a movement to make employees more happy and more productive.
