San Antonio woman's convicted killer loses appeal
Posted July 28th, 2013 @ 7:00am

A San Antonio man sent to death row for killing a woman during a burglary attempt more than nine years ago has lost an appeal of his case to a federal appeals court panel.

The ruling Thursday from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals moves 42-year-old Taichin Preyor closer to execution for the fatal stabbing and slashing of Jami Tackett. Tackett's boyfriend also was wounded in the attack at her San Antonio apartment.

Evidence showed Tackett had been selling drugs to Preyor, who in turn would also deal the drugs.

Preyer apparently lost his keys at the apartment during the attack. His car was in the parking lot. When he went back inside to search for them, the still blood-covered Preyer was subdued by police.

He unsuccessfully claimed self-defense.
