Organizers of the first-ever Great Bull Run of Houston say one person was hurt during the final event of the day.

About 3,500 people took their chances in a series of quarter-mile runs, while being chased by two dozen bulls. The event was held at Baytown’s Royal Purple Raceway in front of an estimated crowd of 6,000.

The animals are trained, so organizers did not expect any problems. One runner had to be taken to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital after suffering scrapes to his face, arms, and hands. He reportedly also suffered a concussion.

The Great Bull Run of Houston is meant to emulate the famous annual running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. This year’s event takes place July 6-14.
