Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Deputies say six people have been killed in a shooting during a domestic dispute at a home in northwest Harris County.
The shooting happened late Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of Leaflet Lane in Spring, where the shooter, identified as Ron Lee Haskell, fled the scene.
Upon arrival Harris County Precinct 4 Constables discovered the bodies of two boys, ages 4 and 14; two girls, ages 7 and 9; a 39-year-old man; and a 33-year-old woman inside the home. Authorities say several ambulances were rushed to the scene where LifeFlight transported a 15 year old girl and child with gunshot wounds. That teen is in critical condition this morning. The other child died at the hospital.
Deputies say once on scene the teenager, who was shot in the head, managed to write down Haskell’s name. She also managed to make deputies aware that the shooter threatened to shoot more family members at another location.
Law enforcement officials say Haskell led them on a 30-minute chase till he drove into a cul-de-sac at Countrymeadow and Country Canyon before surrendering after a standoff that went on for a few hours.
“The gunman has surrendered after a 3-hour standoff. The gunman and his estranged wife have two adopted children. The estranged wife of the gunman is currently out of state and his own sister or sister-in-law was caring for children who may or may not have been his biological children at the time of the shooting. The gunman is being taken to the Harris County Homicide Division tonight.” Ron Hickman, the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable, told our television partner Local 2.
Haskell faces six counts of capital murder. According to reports he is not talking with police and will be in court later today.
