Governors Say White House Should Get Out of the Way

Four members of the Republican Governors' Association say the president should follow their lead.  Governor Rick Perry says the Texas environment is much cleaner than it was 14 years ago, while thousands of jobs have been developed at the same time.  He has some advice for the EPA.

“The best thing they can do is get out of the way -- and keep doing what we're already doing,” Perry says, “which is to allow this country to actually get back to work.”

Perry was joined at the Houston Petroleum Club yesterday by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple and Wyoming Governor Matt Mead.  They were speaking out against new restrictions the president wants to put on coal-fired power plants.

Perry says Texas has grown jobs, while actually improving its environment since 2000.

“We've improved air quality in this state,” he says.  “The air is cleaner today than it was in 2000, without draconian regulations that the president is proposing.”
