A Harris County Lawmaker Says 'No Way'Tto Weed

America's attitude about pot has changed quite a bit in recent years and many believe its prohibition is just as foolish as alcohol prohibition in the last century. But will it ever be legal in Texas like it is in Colorado and Washington?

Harris County republican State Rep Debbie Riddle says she doesn't think Texans will ever go for pot legalization -- at least not for recreational purposes.

"The people of Texas are sensible people; they're not out there on the edge in favor of destroying the minds of young people."

Riddle says pot is a gateway drug. She leans against it but she says she might consider legalizing medical marijuana.

"If it were tightly controlled, very tightly controlled, then that might be something to consider but it would be a hard sell for me."

Representative Riddle says she has compassion for those with chronic pain who believe medical marijuana would ease their suffering.
