CenterPoint: Over 500,000 Still Without Power, Death Toll Now At 7

As damage assessment and clean up continues, CenterPoint now shows that over 500,000 customers are still without power. That's better than the peak, which was around 922,000.

But for some, it may take several days before power is restored.

"Certain parts of the service area where the damage to our infrastructure was significant, certainly restoration efforts are expected to take several days" said Michelle Hundley, communications manager with CenterPoint.

During an exclusive interview with KTRH, Hundley also said they are making progress and have deployed more than 2,000 additional workers, with more help on the way and a request for 4K extra workers.

CenterPoint hopes to finish their overall assessment by the end of today, and restoration work will continue throughout the weekend.

"We'll continue to provide updates in the coming days" Hundley told KTRH, "And restoration times will also be updated as we continue to assess, evaluate, and restore."

She also reminded all customers to be safe if you come across a downed power line or damaged equipment. And if you have any issues to report, you can do so at (713) 207-2222.
